Peter Montgomery of People for the American Way, who appeared on State of Belief Radio last week, was kind enough to forward a Q1 fundraising report for pro- and anti- Amendment 1 factions in North Carolina. It’s impressive to see the kind of numbers tax-exempt churches are able to muster to promote the anti-family amendment, creating a protected class of households in the state constitution, on the ballot for a May 8th vote (table via WRAL.com):

WRAL’s analysis suggests that the anti-amendment Coalition to Protect All NC Families, with slightly more money received in total donations, appears to lean more on individual donors than the measure’s supporters.

On the next State of Belief Radio, we’ll talk to Rt. Rev. Michael Curry, Episcopal Bishop of North Carolina, about the stakes for North Carolina families as the Amendment 1 vote approaches, and about his work with the group Pastors Against Amendment 1. Be sure to tune in!
