circleonlyHere’s what’s coming up this weekend on State of Belief Radio –

Dominant fathers, submissive mothers, and the maximum number of children. It’s not a 60’s TV show, it’s a growing fundamentalist philosophy called “quiverfull” – and we’ll talk with Vyckie Garrison, who fled this world, and today helps other women to do the same. Vyckie also chronicles her work at Patheos.com

Also, theologian the Rev. Dr. Susan Brooks Thistlethwaite says the Obama strategy to combat ISIL doesn’t meet the standard of Just War Theory. She’ll explain. You can get an in-depth look at her arguments in her OnFaith.com column, Obama’s ISIL Strategy: Just More Endless War, Why President Obama’s planned military strikes on ISIS do not fit the criteria for a Just War.

Many pro- and anti-marriage equality forces finally have something in common: both want the Supreme Court to take on the issue.  With the Justices due to reveal their intentions on September 29th, Chantale Fiebig of the American Foundation for Equal Rights will be with us to examine where things stand.

And Rabbi Sharon Brous will discuss the importance of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, which starts Wednesday evening. Rabbi Brous is the founding rabbi at the IKAR community in Los Angeles, dedicated to reanimating Jewish life through imaginative engagement with ritual and spiritual practice and a deep commitment to social justice.
