Here’s what’s coming up this weekend on State of Belief Radio –
The Nuns on the Bus ride again! This year’s tour begins in Des Moines, Iowa on September 17th. Sister Simone Campbell, Executive Director of NETWORK, will explain why big-money political campaigns have got the sisters back on the road to encourage “We, the people” to organize and vote.
Also, this year’s anniversary of the 9/11 attacks saw some of the surviving families organizing around fighting Islamophobia and religious intolerance. We’ll get the moving story from the Rev. Myrna Bethke of the organization September 11 Families for Peaceful Tomorrows.
With the political campaign season in full swing, elections attorney John Pomeranz, who collaborates with Interfaith Alliance on our election-year guides for candidates and houses of worship, will highlight some religious interference in politics to watch out for. John is an attorney with Harmon, Curran, Spielberg + Eisenberg, LLP.
And a religious test for re-enlistment in the Air Force? That poses a bit of a problem for Atheist airmen and women! American Humanist Association Executive Director Roy Speckhardt will bring us the story.
