On the next State of Belief Radio – a call for ending deportations in this country. A diverse coalition of faith leaders have been advocating for change, and marched to the White House this week to amplify their message. We’ll hear from Bishop Minerva Carcaño, who’s been leading these efforts, including a rolling fast that started May 1st of this year. Bishop Carcaño is the United Methodist Bishop of Los Angeles, and the denomination’s official spokesperson on immigration issues.
We’ll also look at the prominent politicians that are already pandering to the Christian-Nation movement in anticipation of the next elections. Tea Party favorites Sens. Ted Cruz and Rand Paul traveled to Iowa to attend far-far-right Evangelical kingmaker David Lane’s “Rediscovering God in America” event. Is all this Silly or Serious? Peter Montgomery of People for the American Way will explain.
And Rabbi Simcha Weinstein, the “Comic Book Rabbi,” will be here to share his thoughts on the birth of Prince George Alexander Louis In England. Rabbi Simcha is the author of the book The Case for Children: Why Parenthood Makes Your World Better.
That’s all coming up this weekend on State of Belief! Here’s how to listen.
