On the next State of Belief Radio – Everybody’s making references to the Constitution, whether the issue is Obamacare, gun control, free speech or religious liberty. But a new survey shows that when it comes to the First Amendment, at least, a shocking number of Americans have no idea what’s actually in it. We’ll get details from Dr. Charles C. Haynes of the Religious Freedom Education Project at the Newseum.
We’ll also hear from Chris Stedman, who has a strong opinion on the recent “Atheist Chaplain” uproar in Congress. And he should – after all, he is one! Chris is also an effective interfaith activist and the author of the book Faitheist: How an Atheist Found Common Ground With the Religious.
And the way temptation comes into play in Stand Your Ground Laws. We’ll get a moral and theological perspective from Susan Brooks Thistlethwaite, who’s written insightfully on the subject in The Washington Post. Rev. Thistlethwaite is a Senior Fellow at American Progress and Professor of Theology at Chicago Theological Seminary, as well as its former president.
That’s all coming up this weekend on State of Belief! Here’s how to listen.
