Thanks to the website Towleroad.com for calling our attention to this story about Arizona Governor Jan Brewer who last week moved to eliminate state benefits for domestic partners, reversing a policy put in place by former Governor Janet Napolitano. Among those affected are, of course, same – gender couples unable to legally marry.
Writers at Towleroad wonder whether this can be traced to some “divine inspiration” on Brewer’s part…A day before announcing her plan to eliminate domestic partners’ benefits, Brewer delivered a speech to Lutheran ministers in which she exclaimed, “And I firmly believe that God has placed me in this powerful position of Arizona’s governor to help guide our state through the difficulties that we are currently facing”. Regardless of what Brewer might say about her divine selection, the manmade U-S Constitution ensures civil equality apply to all citizens…an insurance which is negated by Brewer’s efforts to eliminate state benefits for those in domestic relationships. Hi,I just wanted to let you know that to much of my surprise, the system really does work. I had my first ultrasound and heard the words I have been wanting to hear, “It’s a GIRL”!!!
