On the next State of Belief Radio – Kylar Broadus. A distinguished attorney, college professor and activist, he made history this past Tuesday by testifying before a Senate committee – the first openly transgender person to ever do so. We’ll talk about that, and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act he testified in support of. If you missed it, you can watch his testimony on our Facebook page.

On June 21st, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops kicks off its “Fortnight for Freedom” – a concerted effort to drive claims that religious liberty is in peril in this country deeper into our collective consciousness. We’ll talk about this with Religion Dispatches Senior Editor Sarah Posner. (When you keep seeing clips like those sampled below, however, it gets really, really hard to see this as anything other than a concerted political campaign in an election year:)

And a recent New York Times Opinion column headline raised a lot of eyebrows: it reads “I’m a Mormon, Not a Christian.” The author is David V. Mason, and you’ll meet him on this week’s show.

That’s all coming up – this weekend on State of Belief! Click here for ways to listen.
