David Barton, neither historian nor legal scholar, has nonetheless engaged many in a crusade to redefine the very history of our nation. His organization, Wallbuilders, ironically works to tear down the crucial wall of separation between Church and State enshrined in our Constitution. Now, the publisher of his latest revisionist book, The Jefferson Lies, has withdrawn the volume – an unprecedented act, as Dr. Warren Throckmorton tells us.
Dr. Throckmorton, associate professor of psychology at Grove City College in Pennsylvania, holds historical truth in high enough esteem to have co-written a rebuttal to Barton’s quasi-historical book, titled Getting Jefferson Right: Fact Checking Claims about our Third President. But debunking one book is the literary equivalent of an endless game of whack-a-mole, when many in positions of power are committed to the long-term success of this revisionist agenda. Like much of Dr. Throckmorton’s work, this important interview reveals not only the the deception within Barton’s writing about the past – but also the very real consequences for today’s Americans.
