The “fiscal cliff” stalemate in Washington is 100% manmade. And although it makes for some exciting debate for the political talking heads, the threat of severe austerity measures as a partial solution is going to disproportionately impact the poor in this country. Who falls by the wayside when there’s a protracted crisis mindset in Washington? The Rev. Peter Laarman, executive director of Progressive Christians Uniting sounded a warning about this last month in Religion Dispatches Magazine, and he’s with us this week.
