This past week, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved an immigration bill to be sent to the Senate floor. While the bill, if passed by Congress and signed by the president, could put 11 million people on the path to citizenship, it fails to include immigration equality for LGBT couples. The Rev. Dr. Donna Schaper, the long-time Senior Minister at Judson Memorial Church in New York City and social justice activist, will be joining Welton on this week’s State of Belief to discuss the moral aspects of these and other exclusions in the bill as well as her efforts in aiding those affected by detention and deportation.
