This weekend on State of Belief, Welton is joined by Forrest Church, a celebrated preacher and a prolific writer.  Forrest is the author of new book, Love and Death: My Journey through the Valley of the Shadow, a meditation on life which Forrest began writing after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.  And, we celebrate Hanukkah with a visit from the Comic Book Rabbi.

Rabbi Simcha Weinstein joins Welton for a talk about the changing face of Jewish humor – from Sid Caesar’s Show of Shows to Jon Stewart’s Daily Show.  Simcha Weinstein is the author of the new book, Shtick Shift: Jewish Humor in the 21st Century.   He’s also written about Jewish influences on comic books in Up, Up, and Oy Vey!: How Jewish History, Culture, and Values Shaped the Comic Book Superhero.

And, Forrest Church speaks with Welton about his new book, Love and Death: My Journey Through the Valley of the Shadow, a look at life, religion, love and death.  Forrest Church began writing the book after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.  Forrest served almost three decades as Senior Minister and is now Minister of Public Theology at All Souls Unitarian Church in Manhattan.  He is the author of more than 20 books.
