We have a special show in store for you – this week on State of Belief, Interfaith Alliance’s radio show and podcast, we’ll hear an extended – and rare – conversation with the inspirational Bishop John Shelby Spong about his new book and what his lifelong process of developing an authentic, living faith means for all of us in 2018.
While we can’t yet measure the full scope of the consequences, undermining the integrity of journalism – whether by labeling true stories as “fake news” or by presenting lies as truth – is causing a great deal of damage both here at home and globally. The Rev. Kristen Looney, executive director of the Religious Freedom Center at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., will join our host Rev. Welton C. Gaddy this week to discuss the challenges faced by religious freedom advocates around the world.
For decades, the Rt. Rev. John Shelby Spong, retired Episcopal bishop of Newark, has inspired millions to pursue an authentic faith and spirituality. He teaches that we should seek a living faith that exists outside the damaging, divisive dogmas that often separate humanity from the divine. At 86, he recently published a new book, Unbelievable: Why Neither Ancient Creeds Nor the Reformation Can Produce a Living Faith Today. We are thrilled that Bishop Spong will join Welton this week on State of Belief.
