Elder Jimmy Creech, who was defrocked by the United Methodist Church in 1999 for presiding over the holy union of two men in North Carolina, on progress on marriage equality in churches and his new book, Adam’s Gift: A Memoir of a Pastor’s Calling to Defy the Church’s Persecution of Lesbians and Gays, which recounts his experiences with church struggles to welcome and accept LGBT people.
